Nozomi Park The Playground That Your Dog Will Enjoy
Nozomi Park
Nozomi Park is one of the largest multi-use parks in Chandler. Visitors could take their pets to Nozomi Dog Park, the Nozomi Aquatic Center, or Nozomi Park. The dog park has fences to contain the dogs and a kind of obstacle course for them so that they can stay active. The dog agility course was paid for by a grant from the Chandler police department. The park has a pet-friendly water fountain, benches for owners and pooper scoopers. It doesn’t have a fake fire hydrant like the one at Snedigar Dog Park. The star of the aquatic center has a 25 yard, eight lane competition swimming pool. However, the aquatic center also has a zero depth entry play pool, a 112 foot water slide, diving tank and shaded seating areas. It has both a one meter diving board and three meter diving board. The park often holds swimming lessons and diving competitions. You do have to pay for admission. Water aerobics classes and swimming lessons are an additional expense. Nozomi Park proper has a playground, baseball field, volleyball court and playground. There’s a large grassy area for picnics. The ballfields / athletic fields have to be rented. Nozomi Park is located at 250 South Kyrene Road in Chandler, Arizona. Gila Ditch runs behind the park. Highway 202 is south of Nozomi Park. That puts it at the southwestern edge of Chandler. The neighborhood of Kyrene Village separates the park from West Chandler Boulevard. South Kyrene Road turns into North Kyrene Road at the intersection with West Chandler Boulevard. Gila Ditch crosses Kyrne Road north of Chandler Boulevard and crosses North Gila Springs Boulevard. That road weaves south parallel to Kyrene before crossing Kyrene Road and turning into West Gila Springs Place. That road takes you into the park.
This park is notable for its name, Nozomi. It is the Japanese word for hope. It received its name in honor of Japanese Americans interned in Arizona during World War 2.
