The Chandler Center for the Arts is arguably the heart of the Chandler arts district. It sits at the intersection of West Chandler Boulevard and North Arizona Avenue.
The facility opened in 1989. It is more than a museum or art gallery. It hosts a steady stream of live shows, and it is the home of the Chandler Symphony. It hosts art camp for kids, and the local youth arts council is based out of their office. The Chandler Center for the Arts is managed by the nonprofit Chandler Cultural Foundation. Membership in their society will give you discounts or free access to various shows and extra privileges like passes to meet and greet with various artists.
The facility has a private parking that is free to event attendees. There is additional parking around Chandler High School; that sits on the northern side of the Center for the Arts. However, the biggest parking lot is on the west side of the Arts Center. That’s accessed by North California Street from West Chandler Boulevard. You can also park at the Chandler Park and ride located two blocks to the southeast. That’s at the intersection of Highway 87and West Chicago Street. In fact, there are bus routes that connect the Chandler Center for the Arts to all Park and Ride locations in Chandler as well as the Phoenix metro rail system.
Why is the Chandler Center for the Arts so popular? You can see everything from local performance troupes to major rock stars performing here. Ballets and bebop, spoken word poetry and local youth performances dot the calendar. And there’s something going on almost every night and certainly every weekend barring disasters. In fact, they may have two shows going simultaneously. The main stage can host up to 1500 patrons, and none of the seats are more than 100 feet from the stage. The smaller Hal Bogle Theater seats around 350 people.
