How Estate Planning Protects What You Value Most
Planning for the future involves taking conscious and deliberate steps to prepare for upcoming events or goals. It requires considering possible scenarios and making decisions based on them.
Estate planning sounds challenging, but you don’t have to do it alone. Preparing for the what-ifs of life while ensuring that your loved ones are well provided for can be easy if you do it with the right people.
Estate planning attorneys have the skills and experience to protect your future and that of your loved ones. They understand that effective planning provides direction, control, and confidence about the future. It can help you make the most of your opportunities and resources.
What Is Probate?
You’ve probably heard people talking about “probate.” They’re usually talking about avoiding probate. To probate a Will means to get a court to approve the Will, or state the Will is valid. A personal representative (or executor) either named in the Will or appointed by the Court then goes about the business of gathering estate assets, paying any claims against the estate, and disbursing remaining assets to heirs.
If the person who passed away did not leave a Will, then state laws take over. With or without a Will, the estate assets will eventually get distributed to the rightful heirs as long as some can be found. If none can be found, the estate will go to the State of Arizona (in 2017, we were forced to turn over $150,000 to the State of Arizona because a Chandler man died without a will and we couldn’t locate his family – this stuff really happens).
An Introduction To Wills & Trusts
A last will and testament is a legal document that outlines how a person’s assets and property will be distributed after their death. It is an important document that allows individuals to plan for the future and ensure that their wishes are carried out. There are several different types of last wills and testaments, each with its own unique features and benefits.
One type is a standard will, which is a written document that outlines the distribution of a person’s assets and property. A standard will typically includes provisions for the appointment of a personal representative or executor, who is responsible for carrying out its provisions. The will may also include provisions for the appointment of guardians for minor children and provisions for the distribution of specific items of property or assets to named beneficiaries.
What Is Living Trust?
The term living trust is the popular name for a trust set up when you’re alive. This is called an inter-vivos. With a living revocable trust, you can be the trustee of the assets and maintain control over the assets inside the trust. You can also dissolve the trust, if so desired. Assets in this type of trust are then part of the individual’s estate, though the use of such a trust can ensure that your assets pass on to your heirs upon your death outside of probate.
Medicaid Attorney – How To Pay For Long Term Care
You have worked hard and provided for yourself and your family, probably by bootstrapping your way through challenge after challenge.
If you’re like most of our clients, you weren’t raised with a silver spoon and you weren’t handed a trust fund that supported you; you had to make your own life, your own money, and your own mistakes. And, again like the rest of our clients, you’re proud of the life you were able to create for yourself and your family. Things maybe didn’t always go perfectly to plan, but you knew how to figure things out and make it work.
Financial Planning
We work for people who are tired of all the deceptive business practices notoriously present in the financial industry. We work directly for you, not a broker-dealer or fund company. If you are tired of suffering from greater risks, lower returns, and higher fees, we can help.*
We believe financial planning consists of more than just investment management. That’s why Keystone Law Firm and Keystone Wealth Partners work together to build both your financial and estate plans with the goal of bringing them into perfect alignment. We also include our CPA in the process to help ensure your entire financial picture is efficient and saves taxes.
Tax Planning
With a CPA on Keystone Wealth Partners’ staff, we know the ins and outs of current tax laws and may be able to reduce what you pay going forward.*
You don’t want to pay more in taxes than is required. Schedule an introductory meeting with Keystone Wealth Partners today to take advantage of our in-house tax planning professionals.
Proper tax planning takes more than a look through your paperwork in April. We will work with you year-round to optimize your tax situation and help you navigate the complexities of tax law.
Nursing Home Expenses In The State Of Arizona
When a loved one needs 24/7 nursing care, it’s challenging to find the right nursing home. It’s sometimes even more challenging to figure out how to pay for the costs it. Since nursing home care costs about $8,319 per month for a private room in 2017, most people will find themselves scrambling for ways to pay for it.
As noted on our Long-Term Care page, there are basically three ways to pay for long-term care (which includes nursing home expenses).
Faced With Losing A Loved One?
Coping with a death in the family and all the duties that fall to family members afterward is always challenging. The closest survivors, especially the spouse, are often responsible for significant financial tax and legal decisions that can impact their long term financial security.
If You Are Here, Then In All Likelihood You Have A Loved One That Has Passed Away.

How To Prepare For Your Estate Plan
We know what this is like. These things can be scary and confusing. Francisco wasn’t the Golden Child of his family and at 15 years old found himself in trouble with the law for making stupid teenager decisions. His parents guided him through and helped restore his moral compass; but no thanks to the court system and public defender, both of whom seemed to care more about moving “the case” along than making sure a scared teenager had a future. “The case”? Is that all I was to them?
Unlike Francisco, it’s not your fault you’ve been thrown into this legal mess. And now you’re supposed to figure it all out. It feels like the rules of the game are hidden, or that there are SO MANY rules that it feels overwhelming to figure out which ones really apply to you and your family. How in the world can you make the best choices without knowing?
You’re resolved to not let confusion, fear, and doubt be your story. You’re researching to get educated. Except this feels a little bit overwhelming. There a thousand places that tell you to just DIY, that this is “simple”, or that lawyers only make problems worse. You’re feeling out of control because you’re not sure who you should believe.

Why Can’t I Get Any Answers?
Lawyers are scary. Not fangs and a cape scary, they’re scary because the law is scary, and they seem to make everything complicated with legal jargon and billing methods. Plus, they all seem to know each other – How do you know they’re not just making deals as favors to their friends?
Your friend hired a lawyer and it was a little weird; he charged by the minute and per page for photocopies, never returned her phone calls, and took forever to finish the project. It wasn’t a pleasant experience.

How Will I Survive This?
How are you going to afford this? How long will this go on? Are you going to have to pay every time you want to have a phone call about your own life?
When you had to get that parking ticket taken care of, the court wanted you to fax them a copy of the ticket. FAX? Are these people stuck in 1995?
Are you going to have easy access to the files and documents from your attorney, or are you going to have to show up at the office to dig through a mountain of papers?
The burrito place down the street lets you make an online order from your phone, but these attorneys act like email is cutting edge. There’s got to be a better way.
We’ve been different from the beginning, more than a decade ago. It’s just part of our DNA. It’s why we like to say, “We’re BREAKING the traditional lawyer stereotypes.”
These differences have made other lawyers unhappy, but that’s okay, because we don’t help lawyers, we help you.

No More Secrets
Right from the start, back in 2007, we told the secrets that lawyers keep hidden. We started by demystifying the estate planning process, sharing the information that lawyers traditionally used to make things complicated.
Then we started publishing “how-to” articles, videos, and books on starting businesses, going through divorce, filing a probate, and protecting money from nursing homes. Back then we did it at free seminars. Some lawyers hated us, others thought we were crazy.
People facing giant problems didn’t think we were crazy. They weren’t in the dark, trying to decipher the mysterious language and complicated procedures. The secrets we shared gave them knowledge and confidence about the options and costs of the process.
That just motivated us more. The more information we gave away, the more people called us and let us help. That’s how we became one of the fastest-growing law firms in the Country.
We knew the secret to our success was to continue sharing these secrets with the people who needed answers, other lawyers are damned. We got busy producing and sharing information and training. Then we started training other lawyers.
